The BYC Qualifier Competition will take place on Sunday 19th of February at Hunterhouse College, Belfast. Check in will be 10.00am unless otherwise notified.

The British Youth Championship Finals 2017 will be held at the EIS Sheffield, Coleridge Road, S9 5DA on 29th April – 1st May 2017.

Categories for qualifiers are Boys and Girls, Age Groups U12, U14 U16 and U18 in Foil, Epee and Sabre.

Cost for the qualifier is £15 payable on line at time of entry.

Following the qualifier competition those selected to compete at the BYCs must then pay £22 immediately on the day for the competition in April/ May.

The top 4 eligible fencers in each weapon age group will qualify for entry to the BYC’s in Sheffield.  In the event that only 4 fencers enter the qualifier in a weapon age group the qualifier will not be held as all entries will automatically qualify. In this case if a qualifier competition is not required the remaining £22 BYC Entry Fee should be forwarded in a cheque to David Connery 9 Millreagh Dundonald BT16 1TJ. This should arrive by 19th February 2017. Receipt will be notified if you enclose a suitable email address.

If you have a bye to this year’s finals by making the L8 in the previous year, you must still register to enter the event. Fencers with byes who do not enter their Regions qualifier will not be eligible to take part in the BYCs.

If you do not wish to travel to the final championships in Sheffield, you MUST let us know on the day of the qualifiers, otherwise you will be required to pay the entry fee. If one of the top 4 fencers does not want to take up the qualifying place this can be offered to the next highest ranked fencer.

Entries for Qualifiers will close on Saturday 11th February at Midnight.

As not all age groups qualifiers may need to be carried out due to low entrance numbers, you will receive an email Sunday 12th after the entry closes to let you know if the qualifier will be run for your age group. If your Qualifier is set to run, the check-in for the event will be informed to you when you receive your selection notification.  This system is designed to account for the low entry rates for Epee, Sabre and some foil categories weapons and so there will be Foil Qualifiers on Sunday 19th February and Epee and Sabre if required
