Roundup of the 2010 Northern Ireland Open

This years N.I Open was a great success for
Northern Ireland Fencing and had one of the largest turnouts for the
last number of years, with a total of 117 entrants taking part over the two
day period.
With the focus firmly set on the Commonwealth Games
later this year in Melbourne, Australia the standard of fencing was particularly
high.
This event being a compulsory one for anyone wishing to
be selected for the N.Ireland International team, saw fencers from the USA,
Canada and a number of British based fencers returning to Northern Ireland
with a desire to make the team for Melbourne.
Notable performances by N.Ireland fencers over the
two days action saw

Andrew Fenwick, Foyle & Londonderry Club winning the
Men's Epee and David Alexander, Loughborough University winning the Men's Foil
along with Thomas Nicholls who won the Men's sabre.
Northern Ireland Fencing would like to thank all those
who took part along with Grosvenor Fencing Club (organisers), Belfast City
Council (sponsors) and the two dignitaries who awarded the medals over the two

, Arts and Leisure and Naomi Long MLA Belfast,Lord Mayor.
