SUMMARY:British Youth Championships 2025
DESCRIPTION:The BYCs is a competition for the top young fencers from across the UK. There are separate events in foil\, epee and sabre for boys and girls in U12\, U14\, U16 and U18 categories. \n\n\n\nQualification is on a regional basis. Fencers who are registered with British Fencing as permanently based in Northern Ireland (as opposed to having temporary membership for individual competitions) are eligible to represent Northern Ireland. \n\n\n\nFor more details\, please click here. \n\n\n\nYou’ll see that many regions hold qualifying events in each category with the top 8 qualifying. It is very unlikely that there will be more than 8 eligible NI fencers applying in any one category so\, instead\, we are inviting all those who wish to participate to email james.penny@nifencing.com by 10pm Monday 10 March 2025 with the following details: \n\n\n\n– name of athlete– date of birth– BF membership number (must be valid on the day of competition)\, and– which event. \n\n\n\nIf there are more than 8 eligible NI applicants for an event then we will host a qualifying competition with the first 8 athletes being put forward. Round 5 of the NI Junior Foil Series (Sun 23 Feb) may also be used as a qualifying competition for U12\, U14 and U16 foil competitions. \n\n\n\nThe standard of fencing is higher/tougher than the NI Junior Foil Series\, for example. If in doubt\, please speak to your (or your child’s) coach for advice. NI Fencing reserves the right not to put forward an athlete for entry if there are significant concerns about their readiness. \n\n\n\nNI Fencing will then submit to British Fencing a list of the qualifying athletes. \n\n\n\nThose athletes will be informed shortly after Mon 17 March by British Fencing via the Sport80 platform (i.e. the platform you use to buy British Fencing membership – please make sure that your contact details on Sport80 are up-to-date) how to enter the event. \n\n\n\nAny questions\, please email james.penny@nifencing.com.
