Coaches are\, as always\, welcome to attend free. \nSabre Referees Course \nThere is also a Sabre Referees Course at the same venue. The cost for this course is £20 ( please bring Fencing gear). \nThe course will be taken by FIE referee Mike Salter. DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED \n  \nBeing able to test and repair wepons is an important skill that both Fencers should have\, to be able to test and maintain your own equipment to a competition level is a useful skill and will save you from making trips to the Armourer for easy to fix issues.  To that end NI Fencing will be hosting a basic Armoury course alongside also held on the 24th February in Hunterhouse College\,  Upper Lisburn Road\, Belfast \nThere will be 2 sessions run through out the day\, one in the morning and one in the afternoon with a maximum of 10 places per session \n\nMorning Session:   10.30am – 12.00pm  \nAfternoon Session:    1.30pm – 3.00pm  \n\n\n\nThe course will be run by Master Armourer Jonathan Courtney. \nThe course will include Basics in cleaning foils\, replacing tips parts\, basic problem solving on weapons.  There will be basic cleaning\, and testing kits at the hall for use to enable those attending to complete these tasks. \nAttendees are asked to bring their own weapons to work and practice on\, with a maximum of three weapons and bodywires per person. Also any spare parts they may have.(There is no guarantee that all 3 weapons will be fixed within the given time frame and you are reminded that the wepons and body wires you bring with you\, you will be working on) \nPrice £25 per person  (Costs include the use of equipment to help clean\, and examine and fix weapons) \nIf you would like to attend please email Nicola Montgomery-Shields indicating: \n\n\nWhich session you wish to attend\, morning or afternoon\nWhat experience level you have; No experience\, a little experience or some experience but would like a refresher course\n\nIf you book a place on a session and are then unable to attend please let the organiser know so the place can be reallocated.

DESCRIPTION:The BYC Qualifier Competition will take place on Sunday 14th January 2018 at Hunterhouse College\, Belfast. \n\nBuy Now\n \nThe British Youth Championship Finals 2018 will be held at the EIS Sheffield\, Coleridge Road\, S9 5DA on 5th – 7th May 2018. \nCategories are Boys and Girls\, Age Groups U12\, U14 U16 and U18 in Foil\, Epee and Sabre. \nAs there is no Under 18 competition at the NIJFS for Foil\, if there is a qualifying competition required it will take place at the NIJFS 4 competition as a separate competition in the same format as below. \nCost for the qualifier is £8 payable on line at time of entry\, and qualifiers must then pay £24 immediately on the day of qualification if at the competition or if no qualifying is necessary within 1 week by cheque made payable to NIF and sent to \nDavid Connery\, 9 Millreagh \, Dundonald\, Belfast\, BT16 1TJ. \nFor Entry to the competition in May. \nThe top 4 eligible fencers in each weapon age group will qualify for entry to the BYC’s in Sheffield. In the event that only 4 fencers or less enter the qualifier in a weapon age group\, they will automatically qualify. If you have a bye to this year’s finals by making the L8 in the previous year\, you must still register to enter the event. Fencers with byes who do not enter their Regions qualifier will not be eligible to take part in the BYCs. \nIf you do not wish to travel to the final championships in Sheffield\, you MUST let us know on the day of the qualifiers\, otherwise you will be required to pay the entry fee explained below. If one of the top 4 fencers does not want to take up the qualifying place this can be offered to the next highest ranked fencer. \nEntries will close at Midnight Thu 11th January 2018 in line with the NIJFS entry. \nFoil qualifiers will be told of their qualification on the qualifying day. \nThis is a new system designed to account for the low entry rates for Epee and Sabre weapons. If an Epee or Sabre qualifier is required it will take place separately but alongside at the NIJFS 4 competition. Epee and Sabre qualifiers will be told by email or text on the day of the foil qualifiers whether they are automatically selected or whether they need a qualifying competition. The format will be identical to the foil qualifiers. \nNIJFS 4 Saturday 3rd February 2018 in Queens Leisure Centre\, Holywood \nFoil qualification will be by results in the Junior Foil Series on Sunday 14th January 2018 at Hunterhouse. If you wish to be selected for the BYC at your age group you must separately enter the NIJFS competition 3 as foil entries for BYC normally exceed the 4 fencer quota we will use the ‘on the day results’ to determine the 4 ranking places (Please see appendix 1). This will help to minimize costs. This does mean that non BYC qualifiers will be involved in the competition alongside qualifiers but the results will determined by poules and DE it will have little effect on the final result if any. \nEligibility: \nYears of birth for this season are: \nU12 – Born 2006 or 2007 \nU14 – Born 2004 or 2005 \nU16 – Born 2002 or 2003 \nU18 – Born 2000 or 2001 \nFencers may only enter the Regional event in the Region they have specified on their British Fencing Membership.
