Clean Sport Week runs from 18 – 24 May this year.

Lockdown doesn’t mean anti-doping stops – in fact it means quite the opposite. Now is the perfect time for athletes and coaches to keep their knowledge on clean sport up-to-date and support each other. Despite the current adversity and uncertainty around when sport will return to normal, athletes, coaches, support staff and NGBs all remain committed to clean sport. You can follow the campaign on social media via #CleanSportWeek and #CleanInQuarantine.

You can also find more useful information on the UKAD Clean Sport Week hub here.
    https://www.ukad.org.uk/eventscampaigns/clean-sport-week-2020

Why not take the UKAD “Clean Sport Advisor Course”, for anyone wishing to improve their knowledge of clean sport and increase the reach to protect clean sport.
    http://ukad.coachwisehub.com/store/750681-clean-sport-advisor-course

Coaches can consider taking the “Coach Clean” course, for coaches with no previous knowledge, to those who have worked in clean sport previously and will help clarify your own role in anti-doping and clean sport.

  • It’s Parents in Sport Week!

    It’s Parents in Sport Week!

This year NIF is supporting Parents in Sport Week again. This annual national campaign looks to increase positive parental involvement in youth sport and, by doing so, improve the experiences of young people across the UK.

This year’s aim is to get parents to make the Sports Parents Promise to encourage their child’s safe enjoyment of sport. Parents have until, Sunday 13 October, to sign up and make the Sports Parents Promise to their children.
    https://thecpsu.org.uk/parents/sports-parents-promise/

We’d also like to thank all the fencing parents (past and present!) who have given their time and energy over the years.

    Sport Development Officer

NI Fencing would like to welcome Jess Rutherford to the team, we look forward to working with her over the coming seasons.

Jess will be working to promote fencing within Northern Ireland.

Here are a few words from Jess:

Hi, I’m Jess and I have recently been appointed Sports Development Officer for Northern Ireland Fencing. From a young age I have loved all things sport and I have mainly been involved with sailing and hockey. More recently, sailing is my main sport and I enjoy travelling and competing in events. Last year I placed 3rd in the RS400 Irish Championships. I also have a keen interest in health and fitness. I am a sports student at Ulster University Jordanstown and this is where my experience in sport development began. I’ve had the opportunity to meet fantastic lecturers who are very experienced in their field. I have never tried fencing- but there’s a first time for everything! However, I am very passionate about the benefits of lifelong involvement in sport and I am looking forward to working with the very welcoming NIF team, getting to know everyone in the fencing community and helping to develop this great sport.
