  • British Fencing National Club and Coach Conference

    British Fencing and Beazley are pleased to announce that they are

    hosting a National Conference for British Fencing Club Officials and

    Coaches at Sandown Park, Surrey on Sunday 6th October 2013.

     

    We are also delighted to announce that the day will feature a Q&A

    session with one of the World’s most successful coaches, Christian

    Bauer, who is the Russian National Sabre Coach.  He will deliver our

    keynote speech which will be followed by a choice of eight workshop

    sessions.  The sessions are designed to help with club development

    issues, coaching and coach development matters.  They are as follows;

     

    • Business skills for sports clubs
    • Fundraising, grants and sponsorship
    • Increasing membership – how to find and retain members
    • Marketing your club on a limited budget
    • Goal setting, planning and periodization for your athletes
    • Talent assessment
    • The need for speed!
    • It’s all in the mind

    NI Fencing is looking for applicants to fill the voluntary role of Northern Ireland Fencing 5 Nation’s 2013 Team Manager.

  • 2013-14 NIJFS Pre-Season Training Weekend

    A pre-season two day training event will take place over the weekend 28-29 Sep 2013 in the Main Hall of Avoniel Leisure Centre, open to all fencers who took part in the 2012-13 NI Junior Foil Series. This includes fencers who were in the U16s in 2012-13 and now too old to compete in the NIJFS in 2013-14. It will also be open to any beginners intending to take part this year.

    On both days, training and coaching will be by ex-Olympic fencer and BF grade 4 coach Katie Arup. As a pre-season training session, special attention will be paid to fitness, footwork and tactics, with practice bouts on scoring boxes in the afternoon sessions.

    Schedule

    Sat 28 Sep 1000 – 1600          U14s & U16s

    Sun 29 Sep 1000 – 1430         U10s

    Sun 29 Sep 1000 – 1600         U12s

    Lunch break 1200-1230 on both days

    Application Details

    Cost per fencer: £5

    Closing date for applications: Fri 20 Sep 2013.

    £5 fee to be paid online, or to accompany printed applications received by the closing date.

    Cheques should be made payable to NI Fencing Ltd.

    Fencers must have a current British Fencing/NI Fencing membership (or equivalent, e.g. IFF), valid on the day of the event.

    What to Bring

    All need to bring full electric fencing kit, including breeches and correct size foil. No spare kit will be available at the event.

    A packed lunch and a drink.

     

  • NIJFS Round 5 Results and Final Rankings

    Last Saturday Hunterhouse College hosted the fifth and last round of the 2012/13 series. Results are now up on the Results page and the final rankings on the Rankings page.

  • Belfast Open Results 2013

    Congratulations to all the winners of this years Belfast Open.  It was the highest turn out in a number of years and the winners are to be congratulated on a fantastic days fencing!

  • Coach/Staff Roles UK School Games

    I have just informed British Fencing of the fencers selected for the UK School Games.

     

    Anyone interested in applying for the coach/staff roles should contact me asap email address [email protected]

     

    Job description:

    1. Assist team manager.

    2. Escourting the team on flights, and to and from the competition.

    3. Coaching and supervising teams during the competition.

    4. Evening supervision.

    Applicants must have a current CRB certificate and, for insurance purposes , have an individual British Fencing Licence as well as being aware of current Child Protection Policies.
