    Referee Training Opportunities

As part of NI Fencing’s commitment to develop our volunteer workforce we are keen to provide education and support for our referees.

Following discussions with Fencing Ireland it has been agreed that we will use their online and 1 to 1 resources to facilitate our referee education and development.

The Fencing Ireland website has a dedicated referee section which can be seen here https://www.fencingireland.net/referee/

In order to access the programme you must first create an account with Fencing Ireland.

Once you have created an account then click on the graphic of the weapon that you want to referee. Once registered, the course information will be emailed to you. In the text on the website it says you must be a member of Fencing Ireland but you will not be asked for a FI membership number when registering and your British Fencing membership will allow you to gain the referee qualification.

We are asking both those who have previously completed a referee training course and those who wish to gain a referee qualification to sit the online Level 1 course. Courses for all 3 weapons are available.

Once you have completed the Level 1 course we will then share information to help you sit Level 2.

Please confirm to [email protected] that you wish to sit Level 1.

The course costs 15 euros but NI Fencing will reimburse you! Once Johnny Davis has received your confirmation that you wish to sit the course, we will send you a claim form which you can complete and submit once you’ve done the course.

There are a limited number of funded places available and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Please confirm by 31 January if you intend to sit the Level 1 course.
