Congratulations to Fiona Haldane “Local Hero”
Congratulations to Fiona Haldane on being awarded the Local Hero Award at the Belfast Telegraph Sports Personality Awards. This rounds off a fantastic year for the Northern Ireland Veteran Fencer as she also won a Bronze Medal at the World Veteran Fencing Championships in Austria.
“Fiona Haldane is the type of inspirational person that Northern Ireland sport needs. At 62, the Ulster woman is still competing as a top fencer, becoming the Northern Ireland and Irish Women’s Epee champion in 2012.”

BYC Qualifier Information
The BYC qualifier will take place on Sat 23rd Feb at Hunterhouse College, Upper Lisburn Road, Finaghy Belfast BT10 0LE
Check in as follows
Under 14 Boys Foil Closes 9.15am start 9.30am
Under 12 Girls Foil Closes 9.45am start 10.00am
Under 16 Boys Foil Closes 10.15am start 10.30amOnly those in the categories above will need to fence. All other entrants will automatically qualify for the BYC in Sheffield. Please Check the information below and contact the organiser asap if there are any changes.
All qualifiers need to attend on Saturday before 12pm to confirm their details, name, dob, bfa membership, email address, telephone number, club and to pay the outstanding balance for the entrance fees for Sheffield. Fencers must have a valid BFA membership for entry into this competition.
Refreshments will be available at this competition and there will also be a raffle with proceeds to Hunterhouse College, top prize is tickets to the Grand Opera House, bottles of wine and lots of other prizes.
