It has been a difficult year, and while news about vaccines suggests that there is light at the end of the tunnel, this is still a challenging time. We are aware of many in the NI Fencing community, past and present, who are living abroad or outside NI, and the changes to advice over the past couple of days are likely to have disrupted plans and caused disappointment for many people.

For those of you whose celebrations may now have to be virtual, there are some links below containing ideas about how to celebrate together online (alcohol-related activities for those over 18 only!).

We are working with NI Sport to ensure as quick a return to fencing as possible.

    Saturday 14th November 19.00 – 21.30
Presentation re Plastic Fencing with Keith Cook .
Keith Cook – ex GB International fencer and coach  – manages a very successful programme which delivers early stage fencing to hundreds of school age fencers in Edinburgh.
Keith will give us an insight into the philosophy and objectives of his programme and he will highlight the opportunities which exist to deliver plastic fencing to a broad base of young people outside of standard fencing sessions.
Pre Covid NIF has been exploring opportunities to train up a team of coaches who can deliver the Mini Fence sessions as after school sessions, birthday parties etc and this session with Keith will help to develop this concept .
It is therefore a session which should be of interest to coaches and fencers as well as those who currently aren’t involved in fencing (sport students , coaches in other sports etc) but who may be interested in the concept.
